The elegant and graceful bamboos only needs a gentle breeze for them to offer both movement and sound in your garden. Most bamboos prefer a sheltered position and will often thrive in shade. We grow several varieties in different sizes and include the golden, black and giant bamboo.
One of our favourite varieties is Phyllostachys spectabilis with its alternating green groove in its culm (cane).
Ornamental grasses have become very popular in recent years with their delicate and graceful lines together with a wide range of colours & textures.
When planted in large drifts it is possible to have a complete border made up entirely of grasses, or mix the drifts of grasses with clumps of herbacious perennials. You can grow grasses in a wide range of soils and situations with specific plants suitable for almost any location. We grow one of the tallest grasses, Stipa giganticum, with its seed heads up to 6' high and in contrast the dwarf Festuca gluca Elijah blue.
Palms form an integral and important part of the vegetation of the tropics and subtropics, and surprisingly, the great majority grow deep in the gloomy rainforest, and perhaps rarely see the sun.
Ferns, like bamboos, grasses and palms are part of the huge rise in popularity of architectural plants, making a bold statement in a garden.
Ranging from the Australasian tree ferns to delicate lace-like varieties, ferns cover a wide range of textures, forms and colours.
Occurring naturally in woodland and semi-shaded areas, ferns offer the perfect solution to damp, shady corners of the garden. Because many ferns are evergreen, they offer an all-year round display, and mix well with other woodland plants.
You are buying direct from the growers ensuring good quality, hardy plants.
We offer a much wider range of plants than the average nursery or garden centre.
As growers we miss out the middleman, passing the savings on to you.
We are happy to chat and give advice about any gardening matters.
