Conifers are a wide and diverse range of plants, which have been coming back into fashion in recent years. They cover a wide range of colours, shapes, sizes and textures.
Being very tough and robust, conifers will adapt to many conditions except the very driest. With shades of yellow, blue green & bronze you can create a subtle yet striking counterpoint to other garden foliage.
With the majority being evergreen, they really come into their own during the winter months when they can become the focal feature of any winter garden.
As with many other types of plants, conifers are perfectly suited to growing in containers so long as you choose the right sized container, compost and have adequate drainage, all they will really ask is that you do not let the compost dry out during the summer months.
We grow a good range of conifers to suit most of our your requirements, but if you desire something a little bit different we may be able to help - just ask!
A wide range of plants can be used to create a hedge or screen. Hedges may be used as a border to your property, to divide the garden or as a screen to hide something from view. Whatever your reason, there is plenty of choice.
If you require a very traditional & formal clipped hedge then you could choose from Beech (Fagus Sylvatica), Privet (Ligustrum ssp), Thuja plicata (western red cedar), Box (Buxus ssp) or Leylandii (Cupressocyparis Leylandii) all these make great hedges, which also help to filter noise and pollution & create a haven for wildlife.
If your needs are for something a little less formal then you could choose glossy evergreen plants like Choysia ternata (mexican orange blossom), Viburnumitinus, Escallonia photinia red robin or Prunus laurocerasus (laurel). All of these will create a create screen you just need to plant a little closer than you would normally. We grow many of the hedging varieties in different sizes to suit your pocket or to create an instant hedge or screen. Hopefully this has given you a few ideas but there are many more, should you require further help just ask.
