Bedding Plants

To many, the pride and joy of an British garden is a full bed of roses and when you see the abundance of colour, coupled with the delicate perfume you have an unbeatable combination.

Roses come in many shapes and forms and we try to grow most of them. For the traditionalist who prefers Hybrid Teas & Floribundas we have a good range throughout the year, and during the summer months this is enhanced by standard, half standard & patio roses, which are ideal for containers on the patio.

We also grow a range of celebration roses with names like Congratulations, Golden Wedding, My Mum, Many Happy Returns & many more.

Perfume is very important where a rose is concerned & over recent years it has been bred back into newer varieties and we have selected a range of these for sale in the centre, varieties like Helena & Tower Bridge.

Many people like to have a rose climbing up a wall, with that in mind the varieties that we grow are perfectly suited for that purpose.

What would a garden be without a little bit of height? That is where this range of plants comes into their own. Climbing plants will climb up almost anything provided they are given some support.

They fall into two distinct categories, the first of twhich is the "self clinging" - plants that need no extra support, as they will cling to a wall or fence unaided. Examples of this are the climbing Hydrangea (Hydrangea Petiolaris) and the Ivies (Hedera). The second group are the ones that need help to climb, requiring support, such as a trellis, wires or even an ornate archway. Varieties could include Clematis, Honeysuckle (Lonicera ssp), Passion Flower (Passiflora ssp) & Jasmine (Jasminium ssp).

Climbing plants will grow very well in a container. Placed on the patio with an obelisk or tripod of canes, then covered with large clematis flowers or small and extremely fragrant Jasmine flowers, this will be perfection on a warm summers night.

We also growunusual climbers such as Trachelospermum jasminoides and Fremontodendron (California glory) an evergreen climber with a bright yellow flower which flowers throughout the summer.
