December Tips.

Cold, short days, warm fires and a festive feel to the month.

  • We have free hot chocolate and mince pies every weekend in December up to Christmas Day. So please visit our Plant Centre to chose your Yorkshire Grown Christmas Tree, we also have available wreaths, winter hanging baskets and pomanders.
  • Plant Helleborus nigra the Christmas Rose and Sarcococca the Christmas Box for seasonal flowers and perfume.
  • Plant fruit trees and bushes.
  • Rake up the last of the leaves.

June Tips.

Summertime, the scent of roses, and the taste of strawberries.

  • Put up your hanging baskets, plant your window boxes and plant out your tender summer bedding.  We have a large range of plants and baskets for you to choose from.
  • Water your containers, window boxes and hanging baskets each day and liquid feed and dead head once a week.
  • Water any newly planted trees, shrubs, perennials etc once a week for at least 6-8 weeks after planting. 
  • Trim your buxus (box) hedges and topiary plants.
  • If repairing patches in your lawn, assume the turf has no thickness and alllow for settlement.
  • Protect your soft fruit from birds.
  • Enjoy your rhubarb and strawberries.
  • Keep growing vegetables for succession, especially salad crops, lettuce, rocket and radishes.
  • Harvest new potatoes.
